Can I use a custom SQL query instead of a full table?
Yes. Write a single read-only SELECT or WITH statement to join tables, filter rows, rename fields, or calculate values. Writes, DDL, and multiple statements chained together are not allowed.
Will connecting SQL Server change my database?
No. Dashbreeze reads data from your SQL Server database but does not change or delete it. Connection details are encrypted and are not stored in the browser.
Do I need a dedicated database user?
A dedicated read-only user is strongly recommended. Dashbreeze can only access what the connected user has read access for — it never requires write access.
Do I need an SSH tunnel to connect?
Only if the database is reached through a bastion or jump host. The main host and port fields stay set to the database address; the SSH tunnel option adds a separate hop in front of it, authenticated with a password or private key.
How does a SQL Server dashboard stay updated?
The connection is live. Refresh manually, or enable automatic updates on a schedule. Each refresh re-runs the table import or saved query and replaces the previous imported copy.
Can I combine SQL Server with other data sources?
Yes. Combine SQL Server with Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, and other supported sources on the same dashboard.
Do viewers need a Dashbreeze account?
No. Share a public or password-protected link, and viewers can open the dashboard in their browser without a Dashbreeze account or database access.
